Another part of the (Unix, but not only) Operating System history and evolution-revolution

Hi there,
Recently i kind of discovered a little bit kind of a hidden part of the operating systems history for me. After reading some history of how Steve Jobs worked with Sun together to make OSX what it is today.
Sun is the organisation that looks like the one that made a first Unix-like modular operating system distribution named Solaris to combine different parts of BSD and System V. Working together with AT&T. At the time when Linus was working on Freax. The fun part is that Sun itself chose Linux's Gnome 2 GUI for its Solaris OS. That could be the reason why Gnome 2 was so useful. Sun's influence maybe. :)
Here is an interesting presentation about a new OS that also by the way tries to mix Solaris Unix and GNU's Not Unix. In OpenIndiana they try to use GCC in OpenSolaris fork. :D
(Ian Murdock the originator of Debian worked at Sun to make OpenIndiana possible). :) Cool stuff isnt it? :)
Enjoy,
Comments are welcome, :)
Sincerely yours,
Nikolai
