To celebrate Whoopi Goldberg’s first ever appearance on the London West End in Sister Act The Musical, I have decided to do a Top 5 Whoopi Countdown to celebrate her greatest ever movies. I will unveil a different film every day this week, discussing the amazingness that is Whoopi Goldberg. Sure she has done some really awful films (I mean seriously what the hell was Kiss Shot all about?), but when she makes good choices, her roles and movies are brilliant!

Some of my choices you may have heard of, others are less mainstream, but they all have one thing in common: the great Whoopi!

In fifth place:
Soapdish

A little known gem from the early nineties, Soapdish is about a popular (fictional) soap opera The Sun Always Sets and the people who act, write and produce it. Although Sally Field plays the main character Celeste, a spoilt self centred diva considering quitting the show for good, Whoopi has a great supporting role as Rose the creator and writer of the soap. With an all star cast including Robert Downey Jr., Teri Hatcher, Kevin Kline, Kathy Majimy and Elisabeth Shue, the plot is tight and the comedy hilarious. Soapdish also gets to showcase Whoopi off as the comedienne that we all know and love.

Best Whoopi Moments:
When she takes Celeste to the mall, when she argues with Robert Downey Jr. in the boardroom, when she gets to reveal a surprising secret about one of the cast members at the end.
