Fright Night: Ghost Bus Tour

Ghost Bus Tour (13)

An eerie mist has been creeping slowly over London this week. Whispering around the streets, causing a chill to run up our spines...

Feeling the effects of a downcast January, I was feeling rather spooked, so when Ghost Bus Tours asked if I was a scared wuss and would like to come down, I responded with gusto 'Certainly not!' and so I boarded for a true London fright night. Was I going to regret my fake courage?

Ghost Bus Tours is like your traditional sightseeing tour of London's darker sister. Instead of hearing all about when The Bank of England was built and oh what beautiful architecture St Paul's is- boring- wouldn't you rather hear of blood, and guts and butchery?

If you don't scare easily, then all aboard!

Taking to our Gothic, leather bounds seats, the lights dimmed.

Did I say I wasn't scared?

Ghost Bus Tours is a mix of a sight seeing tour round London, with a theatrical comedy horror show.

I'm not going to spoil the show for you, but you fate will be in the hands of two shifty characters. Gulp.

We drove all round central London, seeing London's most famous attractions in a whole new grisly light. Next time you walk over London Bridge cooing at how pretty it is, think about that actually under your very feet are the bones of plague victims- which have been seen on occasion haunting the bridge...

Or that glorious Millennium Spike that you've photographed a million times? Actually its the spot where traitors were hung drawn and quartered after the civil war.

Half laughing, have quivering, I was glad for a little respite when the conductor called for us all to hop off the bus. Ah fresh air.

Although maybe not quite the R&R I was thinking off...

Ok, I actually want to get back on the bus now please!

Again not to spoil the show for you, but on second thoughts, maybe the bus isn't actually safe...

After an hour and a 15 minutes we found ourselves back to the safe, touristy Charing Cross. Never had I been so happy to see stunned, happy snapper tourists. Nice, friendly and un-scary. Just what I needed.

The tour was actually really witty, and makes a great unusual way to see London, I'd highly recommend it.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to watch fluffy bunnies on YouTube... Nice, harmless fun...
