Paul Jeromack, writing in The Art Newspaper, has tentatively identified the British collector who sold the Getty Museum its group of 16 drawings and a Watteau painting. According to "sources in the field," he's Luca Padulli, 62-year-old co-founder of a hedge fund known as Camomille Associates.
The Camomille Associates website says the firm has been "delivering compelling risk-adjusted returns since 1994." Padulli has been collecting the past 17 years, buying through London dealer Jean-Luc Baroni.
(Shown, two more of the works sold to the Getty: Domenico Beccafumi's Head of a Youth, c. 1530, and Degas' Two Studies of Dancers, c. 1873.)
