Posted: 06 Apr 2021 12:26 PM PDT Everyone knows that buying a home is a challenging process. Lately, the market in many places is extremely competitive and getting outbid is a problem. Buzz60 A famous Beverly Hills house featured in "The Godfather" and a Beyoncé music video is up for sale. The Hearst estate, built in 1927 by architect Gordon Kaufmann, is named after one of its early tenants, newspaper magnate and politician William Randolph Hearst. He lived there alongside partner and actress Marion Davies after she purchased the property for Hearst in 1946. In 1953, it was the honeymoon location for Jackie and John F. Kennedy. The Mediterranean-style home is being sold for $89.75 million, a reduction of nearly $30 million from last month's price and significantly lower than its $195 million asking price in 2016. The sale is by order of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court after the homeowner, attorney Leonard Ross, racked up over $50 million in debt on the property, according to the Los Angeles Times. Listed as one of Los Angeles' most iconic homes and "anchored in American Legend," the exterior of the house was used in "The Godfather", as well as "The Bodyguard" and Beyoncé's "Black is King" music film. The sale of the house is subject to court confirmation. "There's so many rooms that are world-class," Gary Gold of Hilton & Hyland Real Estate told USA TODAY. Gold is one of three realtors selling the house, alongside Anthony Marguleas of Amalfi Estates and Zizi Pak of Rodeo Realty. Located in the famous 90210 zip code, the private property has the main house and two guest apartments on 3.5 acres of land. The main house has eight bedrooms and 15 bathrooms within its 29,000-square-feet. It features 22-foot hand-painted ceilings, a two-story paneled library, two screening rooms, entertaining areas that can accommodate 1,000 guests and an art deco nightclub with parts from Hugh Hefner's nightclub Touch. A billiards room also has original herringbone floors and a stone fireplace moved down from another famous Hearst property, the Hearst Castle in San Simeon, California, over 200 miles north on the California coast. Additional features include a pool house, a two-story five-room gatehouse, terraces, fountains, a tennis court and an Olympic-size swimming pool. Gold has sold other houses that are part of 10 most iconic houses in Los Angeles, including the Playboy Mansion and the Chartwell, but said this house, "is probably the No. 1 or No. 2 best of those 10 houses." "This is a rare and prestigious opportunity to acquire one of the 10 most iconic homes in L.A. which you rarely see come available. This property now has a motivated seller and is priced to sell," Marguleas said in a statement sent to USA TODAY. Follow Jordan Mendoza on Twitter: @jord_mendoza. Beyoncé, Hailey Bieber, Zendaya and More of the Week's Best Dressed - Vogue Posted: 05 Apr 2021 08:33 AM PDT Spring has only just begun, but celebrities have already reached a consensus on the season's essential silhouette. The winner is a short hemline: Hot pants, mini-skirts, and jackets. At the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Zendaya gave a crash course in the moment's look by streaming into the virtual ceremony in Spanish label, Pertegaz's emerald green blazer-dress and matching ribbed turtleneck. The jewel-toned outfit was chic, but its best quality was the way it placed the focus on the statuesque Malcolm and Marie star's impossibly long legs. Statement blazers proved popular with young Hollywood. Hailey Bieber layered her cream, single-breasted Jil Sander jacket over Danielle Guizio's satin mini-dress while heading out for date night with husband Justin. At the same time, Dickinson star Ella Hunt went for rockstar vibes in a thigh-skimming black crêpe Versace dress cut like a tuxedo. Elsewhere, the babydoll reigned supreme. Bridgerton scene-stealer Nicola Coughlan made the most of a black ruffled Miu Miu frock with gothic charm. Complemented by crystal necklaces and the Swarovski straps on Coughlan's towering platform mary-janes, the dress was another unexpected choice from the period drama's fashion breakout. Laura Harrier provided a 90s take on the silhouette while celebrating her 31st birthday in a candy-apple red dress from Versace's spring/summer 2021 collection. The kind of sexy, lightweight look that Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss used to wear around town during their party-girl days, it was proof that everything is a little more fun once Donatella is involved. With everyone else showing off a little leg, Rihanna (naturally) went in the opposite direction, showing off her fashion-nerd side by digging up a pair of feathered Tom Ford-era Gucci jeans from the brand's spring/summer 1999 collection. Ford dedicated that season's show to "Las Vegas hippies" and a louche version of Bohemia inspired by Cher. Rihanna took the piece in a different direction, drawing inspiration from the simplicity of the runway styling on model Trish Goff, but adding a touch of viral irreverence via a custom faux fur dome hat by Benny Andallo. Spirited fun from head to toe, the outfit was impossible to resist. |

From 'The Godfather' to Beyoncé: Famed L.A. Estate Relists - Mansion Global Posted: 05 Apr 2021 08:33 AM PDT Once asking as much as $195 million, a Beverly Hills estate once owned by William Randolph Hearst is returning to market for the reduced price of $89.75 million following a protracted bankruptcy saga. A bankruptcy court recently appointed an administrator to sell the property after being petitioned to do so by Fortress Investment Group, which has said it is owed more than $52.3 million in unpaid loans and interest, according to public records. A spokesman for Fortress declined to comment. The property's longtime owner, attorney Leonard Ross, placed the limited-liability company that owns the property into chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2019 in a bid to avoid a foreclosure auction and pause litigation over loan defaults, The Wall Street Journal reported. More:$145 Million Hamptons Compound Goes Into Contract, May Set a Price Record Mr. Ross had been trying to sell the property on and off since 2007 and tried a number of different price-tags on the estate, the highest being $195 million in 2016. He also briefly tried using a crowdfunding platform to refinance the house. On roughly 5 acres, the estate, which dates to 1927, is one of the best known in Los Angeles. After Mr. Hearst's death in 1951, it was owned by actress Marion Davies. President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis vacationed at the home as part of their honeymoon. The property was featured in the movie "The Godfather," including the scene where an enemy of Vito Corleone finds a severed head of a horse in his bed. The property was also recently used as a location for Beyoncé's visual album "Black Is King." The main house is about 29,000 square feet and has eight bedrooms, but there are a total of 28 throughout the property, including the guesthouse and the security house, the listing agents said. From Penta:BMW Debuts the Sixth-Generation M3—With a Competition Version Designed by the architect Gordon Kaufmann, the home is built in an H-shape and features elaborate balconies, archways and colonnades. It has a two-story library with hand-carved wood paneling and a billiards room with a hand-carved stone fireplace brought in from Hearst Castle in San Simeon. A more recent addition is an Art Deco nightclub, which includes elements from the old private Los Angeles supper club Touch, which was owned by the late Hugh Hefner. "People always talk about wasted space like it's a bad thing, but wasted space is what makes a house great. This house has all these great, generous hallway spaces that you just never see," said Gary Gold of Hilton & Hyland, who is listing the property with Anthony Marguleas of Amalfi Estates and Zizi Pak of Rodeo Realty. Mr. Marguleas said, this time, the property is priced to sell. "The seller is serious about selling, they're realistic about selling, so it's priced very favorably," he said. Mr. Ross didn't respond to a request for comment. |
Keke Palmer Shares Why She Was 'Misunderstood' As a Child Star - WUSA9.com Posted: 06 Apr 2021 07:31 PM PDT Keke Palmer may have built her own empire, but she shared that it wasn't always an easy ride to stardom. The 27-year-old actress has been working in the entertainment industry for almost two decades, making her film debut in 2004's Barbershop 2: Back in Business. Two years later, she had her breakout role in Akeelah and the Bee. However, as she explained in the latest episode of Ladies First with Laura Brown, she always felt "misunderstood" as a child star. "At a young age, as a child [in the] entertainer world, your emotions are always the last thing that people care about," Palmer expressed. "I think you get really quickly into being a people-pleaser and trying to be everything that everybody wants you to be. And so I think in a lot of that, you end up being misunderstood." "I've fought a lot of that most of my adult life, and I'm still new into my adult life," she continued. "And I think that's something that I work towards every day is to not worry about people not understanding me, because I understand myself." Over the years, after landing her own Nickelodeon show, True Jackson, VP, and continued success in the film and television world, as well as music endeavors, Palmer said that she doesn't please "anybody but myself." "Sometimes it's much easier because I don't have to please anybody but myself. I find so much ease with being alone because I actually like me. That's what's so crazy, is because people assume if you want to always please people or be nice, it's because you have an issue or esteem problem with yourself," Palmer stated. "But actually, no. It's y'all not knowing what y'all want and projecting that on me that's giving me the stress. Me, on my own, in my own room, I'm happy as hell." Explaining that these days she works hard to "not worry about people not understanding," her perspective on her career has also changed. "I think I've always been able to be more objective about acting and all these other things because they kind of just came to me without me knowing," she explained. "But music was something that at a young age I believed in myself in and throughout the industry got very challenged [doing]." "I had to really come to that understanding that success is what you make it and what you design it to be. Everybody is not Beyoncé, and that's alright," she continued. "That doesn't mean that you're not amazing because if you're not Beyoncé, maybe you are Norah Jones." ET spoke with Palmer back in February, where she touched on using her social media and talent to raise awareness for social issues. She also spoke about the pressure of being a role model for younger generations. "I embrace that pressure because it reminds me or lets me know how much I care and how much it means to me," she said about using her platform for change. "Obviously everyone feels the same way or needs to feel the same way, but I think for me, growing up the way that my parents raised me and understanding that art and representation where they meet it's always something that I wanted to make sure was a part of what I did, whether it was on camera or producing or whatever it was. So yeah, I think it's pressure but only because I care so much." For more on Palmer, see below. RELATED CONTENT: |
