Midweek Makeup: Nip and Fab Makeup SS18 with MakeupByMario

Life as a blogger these days can be pretty amazing. Everyday I wake up and after the nursery run, I check my emails which is actually my favourite thing to do as you never know what could land in your inbox; info on new products, events, sponsored posts, offers etc, to name a few.

When I received an email for an event with Nip + Fab x Mario Dedivanovic (Kim Kardashian's makeup artist/artist to the stars "makeupbymario") I felt a familiar buzz of excitement in my stomach knowing full well this would be an exclusive event I had to attend.

Mario's makeup literally sets trends in the makeup world; he recently released a palette with Kim Kardashian's makeup line KKW and did a blue eyeshadow look on Kim which sparked a whole load of blue eyed looks on social media/the internet, so to say he's an iconic makeup artist is an understatement.

I've been lucky enough now to see Mario twice through blogging events, the first one being with L'Oreal (in this blog post) and now with Nip + Fab for their first year makeup anniversary/birthday, where we saw a demonstration by Mario using the new SS18 products.

Read on to see how he used the products and of course my take on it too!
The products used for my recreation were all Nip+Fab, which are all up for grabs (scroll down to the end of this post!), but here's the steb ny step process of how Mario created the look:

  1. First Mario started with the base and brows already done on the model; I used the Nip + Fab foundation in shade 20 as it is the most yellow (available for £12.95 here, some shades currently discounted) and concealer in shade 15 (currently discounted £4 here).
  2. He started by dusting a white powder under the models eyes to catch any fall out, I asked at the end what powder he used and he said the new Nip+Fab translucent powder (£8.95), but when I tried to use the translucent powder the same way in my Instagram live recreation, it didn't work for me for some reason!
  3. Mario then used the new Fired Up palette (£12.95) and started by sweeping "Celestial" all over the lid, but to me it felt too shimmery so I used "Dawn" which is matte and just a little darker than my skin tone.
  4. He then used "Brick" as a transition shade and added some heat to the outer corners of the eyes using "Fire Breather". He blended everything using the orangey shade "Cinnamon".
  5. Mario then used a brown eye pencil (£6.95) on the inner waterlines and softly on the top lashline and then applied mascara (no lashes).
  6. He then used "Champagne Shimmer" from the new bronzer palette (£8.95) on the brow bone and inner corners of the eyes and some of the matte bronzer shades to contour lightly. I personally love this palette more than the contour palette as I'm more of a bronzer girl (to lightly contour) than full on contour!
  7. Mario lightly added a shade or two from the eyeshadow palette to create an editorial effect contour on the sides of the nose leading to the eyebrows (either Dawn or Cinnamon), and then switched up the look by playing with the products and adding the shade "Perfect Coral" from the new Blushed Brights blush palette (£8.95) to the centre of the eyelids (and blending!)
  8. He then further played with the makeup by adding the fairly new lip topper (£7.95) in the shade "Galactic" to the lids to create the glossy eye!
  9. For the lips if I remember correctly, Mario used a nude lip liner (I used 03 Caramel, currently discounted £3.95) and then dabbed some of the orangey eyeshadow shades on the lips to tie in the whole look!
I absolutely loved watching him create this masterpiece and play with the products in non conventional ways to create a simple, editorial style, warm makeup look.
Here's what mine ended up looking like:

This isn't a very everyday wearable kind of look as Mario himself said it was more editorial but it was fun to watch and recreate all the same and I love the rusty/warm hues!

From the new additional Nip+Fab makeup products, my favourites are definitely the Fired Up Eyeshadow Palette (it's so me with the rusty neutral and purple shades!) and the Bronzer Palette as I do love a subtle highlight and contour for everyday.
