After 2005’s hit film White Noise, the producers obviously thought that it was a good idea to cash in on a success, and so churn out a sequel. However, this sequel has absolutely nothing at all to do with the original film’s plot, except for the fact that Electronic Voice Phenomenon is briefly mentioned at the beginning of this slow-paced and laughable horror film.
White Noise: The Light begins with an ex-Eastender actor (which immediately had the whole cinema laughing) shooting and killing Abe’s (Nathan Fillion) wife and child, before turning the gun on himself. Abe then attempts to commit suicide but is brought back to life, but now has strange supernatural powers- he can tell when people are about to die.
The idea is an interesting one, but the acting and poorly plotted and unrealistic script really brought the whole film to a crashing holt about half way through, so after this point everything that follows was stupid and funny.
The director tries hard to make the audience scared with a few jumps, but these were very contrived and predictable. By the end of the film, I didn’t care about any of the characters or what happened to them, and although they could have chosen to end White Noise: The Light in a more original way, the film has such a cheesy and corny ending that the only thing I had nightmares about was the fact that I had actually paid money to see this film.
Two words to sum up this film: shockingly s**t.
Abe gives the same bored facial expression throughout... |
