A Little While by Yellow Days |
I bought this around the time that I also treated myself to a YSL matte lipstick. In the store, Rouge Valentine looked like a broody matte true red but, it was only until I brought it home that I realised my mistake.
The Packaging: Rouge in Love lipsticks come in weighty little bullets that definitely separate themselves from most lipsticks on the market. The only other lipstick that I have owned which was similar to the weight of this was Becca's Sheer Tint Lip Colors (now discontinued). I think weighty lipsticks have an elegance to them that makes them feel a smidge more glamours, even if it is just the cap that's heavy (like in this case). In terms of packing, I really like how everything has been finished and that it snaps with a satisfying and secure click.
Rouge Valentine 185N - Looks rather matte in the tube, right? |
The Colour: Rouge Valentine is red (I'll give it that) but, it is by no means matte or broody. In fact, its the complete opposite. It's a dewy silky pink toned red that glides on smoothly with gleam shine and dewiness. It took me a long time to appreciate this lipstick for what it is - a beautiful shine intensive pink toned red - and ultimately, I only have myself to blame for not testing it out in store and accepting it, for itself sooner.
Rouge Valentine in Action |
Rouge Valentine 185N: The shade is very pigmented and can be easily layered for juicy (second time I used that word now) plumpness. It's a very comfortable and easy to wear formula that will work well for those with dry lips. The scent is an extremely light floral perfume scent that you might only notice when applying the lipstick but after that process, it's gone. This is a shade that will work nicely on most skin tones and especially for dark skin. Plus, depending on your preference there are 33 shades to choose from and you can wear this very lightly as a stain or at full strength.
Price: £24.00 each
To conclude: Finally, I appreciate it for its dewy glory. Yes, it is pricey but, I think if you're looking for a lightweight dewy lipstick that you can/will incorporate into you're daily wearing it could be a good investment (especially in winter/cold weather).
